Fasting & hiking

What is Fasting?

Fasting is primarily an act of willing abstinence or reduction from certain or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time. Liquid fasting is the abstaining from all solid foods--only liquids are ingested. Other than water, the liquids used have high nutritional value and are easy to digest and assimilate. In our Healingcastle Schochwitz, you can have a pre-fasting preparation weekend or 7 days long full time fasting program with all-what-you need included

Why should I fast?

Our bodies naturally detoxify everyday. Detoxification is a normal body process of eliminating or neutralizing toxins through the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph glands, & skin. However, the environmental toxins of modern-day life - pollutants, chemicals, other synthetic substances - are more than the average body can handle. The body doesn't know what to do with foreign substances, so it will store them outside of the regular elimination system, so we don't get poisoned. Those poisons start building up in our body fat. If you feel "congested" from too much food, or the wrong kinds of food - you may want to detoxify. If your energy level is low, if you've been taking medications that have not eliminated from your system, a weekend detox may help...

Can the benefits of fasting really be so broad? Yes, they can, and they are. We are so much more than a physical body and fasting affects every part of our being.

Fasting will:

  1. rest the digestive system
  2. allow for cleansing and detoxification of the body
  3. create a break in eating patterns, while shining a spotlight on them
  4. promote greater mental clarity
  5. cleanse and heal "stuck" emotional patterns
  6. lead to a feeling of physical lightness, increasing energy level
  7. promote an inner stillness, enhancing spiritual connection

Fasting & hiking - Programme 2019
Portugal
​April 30 - May 8, 2019

​​- 7 days of fasting and hiking alongside the breath-taking Atlantic coast of South-West-Portugal

​Price:
750 Euros for 7 days
​This fee includes the following:
  • ​accommodation for the entire duration of this programme
  • ​daily physical exercises, e.g. yoga, meditation, stretching
  • ​daily hiking with a guide
  • ​daily supply of water and tea
  • the supply of juices, water/tea and fruit during fast-breaking

​
This fee does NOT include the following:
  • ​flights to and from Portugal
  • ​transportation to and from the airports
  • ​transportation to the hiking locations and return will have to be paid partially (transportation in Portugal is quite cheap)

Equipment for the programme:
  • comfortable clothing for hiking and exercising
  • ​beach towel and swimwear
  • ​hiking boots/comfortable footwear
  • ​hiking backpack and water bottle
